“The Twins” Skateboarding Boys

May 10 2011 Published by under Extreme Sports

So remember when Tony Hawk was a prodigy at age 14? Recently, 12 year old twins Pierce and Chris Brunner are grabbing the attention of not just skaters, but pretty much anyone online world wide. It’s rare to find such young skaters with absolute audacity and skill, but to find two of these talents together in perfect sync is phenomenal. Pierce and Chris skates through the street and performs kick flips, 360 flips off ledges, do perfect grind through railings, getting huge air for their size, and just doing stunts that are quite scary to watch at some point—like kicking off a kick flip and landing on a 45 degree bridge ramp. You can watch this amazing video with the twins in action, the song is called “Walking On A Dream” by Empire Of The Sun.

DC Shoes Initials Campaign, New Way of Skate Videos

Apr 12 2011 Published by under DC, Extreme Sports

DC Shoes had just released a new campaign, where they treated location shots as movie sets. So rather than finding new skate-able ledges, rails, and steps, they were all built from ground up on the set. Making it a more controlled environment. Now the notion has its pros and cons like everything. The pros being that skaters and directors have more control of the tricks being pulled off, with minimum crash factors; like the pedestrians or pebbles on the road, also gives the cinematographers more freedom in placing objects that they find aesthetically pleasing with their advertisements—The Coney Island lookalike set is full of colors and fun props, giving the conventional skating set much more depth. Now the cons being that this lacks the “street” feel and the rawness in street skate videos. Some might think this isn’t as amped or authentic. All in all, The Initials Campaign was an enjoyable and new direction in skate videos.

BMX At 1000 Frames Per Second.

Mar 06 2011 Published by under Extreme Sports, Sports watches

Okay, so here is how you take a very ‘geeky’ concept and make it really cool. Take a Canon EOS 7D or 5D Mark II camera, shoot a BMX in action video at 60 frames per second, then place it in an After Affects plug-in called Twixtor, and slow down the action to 1000 fps, then VOILA! Phew, that wasn’t so bad was it?

But all jokes aside, this is a very revolutionary concept that we take just about anything that involves fast movement, and be able to make it an engaging experience with this neat trick. Filmmaker Oton Bačar and Hachem El YAMANI had successfully combined the technique with their very beautiful BMX videos. Extreme sports are about to see something exciting that they have never seen before!
